Last time I post about Pentair's Intelliflo VF and guess what Hayward has comes up with its version of a cost-effective, eco-freindly pool pump.
Hayward brings you EcoStar pool pump included in their Energy Solutions product line.
Just like Pentair Intelliflo, Hayward Ecostar assures that customers will save 90% on energy costs. Both pumps also run on sealed permanent magnet 3 phase motor and totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) for quieter operation.
Intelliflow and EcoStar manage flow requirements through programmable integrated controller. EcoStar has 8 selectable speed while Intelliflow has only 4.
Intelliflow service factor horse power (SFHP) is rated for 3.95 maximum rating for the motor compared to EcoStar that is rated 2.7 SFHP.
There's a report that The California Energy Commission recently conducted an experiment involiving Pentair's Intelliflo and Hayward's EcoStar to test their energy consumption. Both are tested at 3450 and 1000 RPM. It turned out that at 1000 RPM, EcoStar is about 36% more efficient than Intelliflo. However, it is important to note some factors such as the size of the pool and how often the pump is used.
The average price of EcoStar is $1199 but some pool distributors sell it for as low as $950 much cheaper than its more likely counterpart; Intelliflo VF.
My verdict:
I'm quite delighted by the features of Pentair Intelliflo and Hayward EcoStar. They are quite the same in all aspects (except the price). Intelliflo has been around longer than the EcoStar so it's not surprising that it has positive reviews except from claims about high repair cost.
I would recommend checking your automation system first if your considering installation of a variable speed pump. There could be some "brand issue."

The big equalizer here is your budget but either of the two is a good choice.

Interesting!
A pool pump is one of the most important equipment in a swimming pool. It will be wise to purchase a reputable brand and perform regular maintenance.
Astral Pool's pool pump could rival those two. :)
Im no master, however I trust you simply made an amazing point. You surely completely comprehend what youre talking about, and I can really get behind that. Screen enclosures
